DocsUsing XpressPurgeControls on X

Controls on X

XpressPurge adds controls directly to X so you can filter without leaving your feed.

The Flame Button on Posts

When XpressPurge detects a post, it adds a small flame button to that post's toolbar.

Click the flame button to open the post menu.

The menu can show:

  • Hide @handle: creates an account rule for the post author.
  • Quick keyword add: suggests a keyword or phrase from the post text and lets you edit it.
  • Train rule from this post: opens reviewed account, keyword, or domain rule suggestions for Pro users.
  • Add new rule: opens the full in-page rule modal.
  • Open Settings: opens the XpressPurge Options page.

The flame button is meant for quick actions while scrolling.

For a step-by-step guide, see Quick Flame Menu.

Quick Keyword Add

Choose Quick keyword add to save a keyword rule from the current post.

You can edit the suggested keyword before saving. This is useful when a post contains a topic you want to remove from your feed.

Add New Rule Modal

The in-page rule modal supports:

  • Keyword
  • Account
  • Post contains
  • Low engagement
  • Link domain

Available actions:

  • Hide
  • Boost
  • Snooze
  • Show only

Boost, Snooze, and Show only are Pro actions.

If you use Train rule from this post, the button label says Save draft, but saving from that modal creates the selected rule immediately.

For text values, use commas to add multiple values:

text
ai, politics, crypto

For accounts:

text
@handle, @another

For post content:

text
image, video, quote, externalLink

Turning Filtering Off

You can turn filtering off from:

  • the toolbar popup;
  • the Options page header;
  • the Alt+Shift+X shortcut.

When filtering is off, XpressPurge should stop hiding or boosting posts and restore normal visibility as the page is rescanned.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Default shortcuts:

  • Alt+Shift+X: toggle Filtering.
  • Alt+Shift+F: toggle Show-only mode.

Browser shortcut conflicts may prevent shortcuts from working. Check your browser's extension shortcut settings if needed.
