Quick Start

This guide gets you from a fresh install to a cleaner X feed in a few minutes.

1. Turn Filtering On

Click the XpressPurge icon in your browser toolbar.

In the popup:

  • Make sure the main switch is On.
  • Check the Hidden today, Rules, and Presets numbers.
  • Use Open X if you are not already on X.

2. Use the Starter Presets

XpressPurge starts with two presets:

  • Work Preset: reduces external links and keeps the feed focused.
  • Low Noise: hides low-signal posts and heavy media by default.

You can toggle presets from:

  • the toolbar popup;
  • the in-page XpressPurge panel on X;
  • the Presets page in Options.

3. Create a Rule From a Post

On X, look for the small flame button added to each detected post.

Click the flame button to open the post menu. From there you can:

  • hide the author;
  • add a quick keyword rule;
  • open a full rule modal;
  • open XpressPurge Options.

This is the fastest way to teach XpressPurge what you want to remove.

4. Create a Rule in Options

Open Options and go to Rules.

Click Create rule, then choose:

  • Rule type: what the extension should match.
  • Action: what happens when it matches.
  • Values: keywords, handles, domains, post content chips, or engagement number.
  • Preset: optional group where the rule should belong.

Free users can create a limited number of custom rules and values per rule. Pro unlocks unlimited rules and values.

5. Check Analytics

If you have Pro, open Analytics.

Analytics shows:

  • hidden posts today;
  • hidden posts total;
  • rules that are actively working;
  • boosted posts;
  • daily hidden-post trend;
  • top rules;
  • top presets;
  • recent hidden posts.

This helps you understand how much unwanted content XpressPurge kept out of your feed.

6. Keep It Local or Enable Sync

By default, XpressPurge keeps your data local.

If you have Pro, you can enable browser sync from Sync to back up rules and presets through your browser account.
